Introduction

Songwriting x sound sculpture. Strange and beautiful music for strange and beautiful times.

Mistakes

Don't look down that darkened lane / Hope for snow then pray for rain / Let me make my own mistakes / This poor heart is mine to break

As I Walked Out

As I walked out to breathe the ocean air / I brushed a path in dancing grasses / The path stretched out before my knees / You could see where I had been

Bios

Long Bio (150 Words)

In a world that seems to spin faster every day, Champagne Weather makes time stand still. With a blend of songwriting and sound sculpture, the band artfully connects folk/roots to modern minimalism. Every song is a shimmering blanket of sound with flashes of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Appalachian fiddle and Maritime folksong. Their music wraps around the audience, creating transformative musical moments.

Champagne Weather is new music from James Hill and Anne Janelle. Separately and together, Hill and Janelle have won a Canadian Folk Music Award and garnered both JUNO and ECMA nominations. They have performed widely at venues and festivals across Canada as well as internationally from New York to London to Tokyo. With Champagne Weather, the duo explores musical territory that reflects the full breadth of their musical lives and loves. The result is both healing and haunting: strange and beautiful music for strange and beautiful times.

Show Description

Shimmering vocal harmonies, haunting cello melodies, textures bowed and plucked, all grounded by the warm pulse of analog synth. Imagine an old-time jam led by Philip Glass and Brian Eno and you won't be far off. It's singular, magnetic music in an orbit of its own.

ADSR: A Life in Every Sound is a multi-sensory experience where music, storytelling, and visual art intertwine. Champagne Weather, known for its signature blend of Manhattan minimalism, down-east fiddle and contemporary folk, brings its critically acclaimed four-EP concept series to life on stage with a bold fusion of dynamic lighting design, cinematic projections, and a rich tapestry of sound.

ADSR—short for Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release—describes the shape of every sound we hear, from first spark to final fade. It's also a powerful metaphor for life itself: birth, growth, persistence, and letting go. The concert invites audiences into a world where every note, every silence, and every shade of colour tells a story, creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and expansive.

Expect shimmering vocal harmonies, haunting cello lines, ukulele and violin textures, all grounded by the warm pulse of analog synth: it's magnetic music in an otherworldly orbit.
